Current genomics technologies are poised to
open this field to previously unstudied species.The
nucleotide sequence of entire reptilian X and Zchromosomes
would enable cDNA arrays and quantitative PCR
to measure expression level differences betweenmales
and females [28].Subsequent studies could determine
whether novel mechanisms of gene silencing orexpression
are found during reptilian development.
