I am 在一定的语境中也是句子,语法上称为省略.
所谓省略,就是说话时不再重复该语境中已经出现过的某些重复语言信息,或者某些存在的具体语言环境信息.
一、就 I am 而言,可能会有下列的几种省略：
1.省略表语,如：
--Are you a student?
--Yes,I am.
2.省略进行时态中的现在分词,如：
He is singing and I am,too.他在唱歌,我也在唱歌.
3.省略被动语态中的过去分词,如：
He is taught himself English and I am as well.他自学英语,我也自学英语.
4.省略表示将来的不定式,如：
She is to join the club and I am too.她届时将参加那个俱乐部,我也会的.
二、其他重复信息省略
1.省略动词
Some of us study Rudian,others (study) English.
He got earlier than I (got up) today.
He is a composer,she (is) a singer.
His face is tanned and his hands (are) big and strong.
2.同时省略句子的几个成分
There are more buildings in this district than (there are buildings) in that one.
-- When did you read the book?
-- (I read it) Long ago.
-- Have you ever been there?
-- (I have ) never (been there).
三、省略具体语言环境信息,如：
（I）Thank you for your help.谢谢你的帮助.
